..,.the term legendarium refered to a literary collection of legends. This obscure medieval Latin noun originally referred mainly to texts detailing legends of the lives of saints. JRR Tolkien appropriated the word to refer to his collection of stories, histories, cultures and languages invented to comprise Middle-earth, the storyworld we all know from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (as well as lots of other stories). To be clear, this website is not devoted to the works of JRR Tolkien, although you can find my doctoral dissertation on some of Tolkien's very early fiction. Rather, this site is devoted to my passion - storytelling, the study and practice thereof. So, this is a growing collection of the work I have done and the stories I will tell. You will find scholarly articles and essays, scripts and screenplays, fiction, and videos of some of my work that has been produced for the screen. But I also want to engage in a conversation around the theories, ideas and analysis of stories. In the 21st century that usually means film, television and animation. Thus, you will also find a blog to which I hope you will respond. So come on in. Pull up a chair, pour yourself the relaxing beverage of your choice, and let's find some new storyworlds and revisit some old ones.
